Be Active Western Stars shine brightest at WNWBL Finals

The 2016 Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball League (WNWBL) concluded last weekend with the Be Active Western Stars completing a clean sweep during the finals weekend to secure the 2016 Championship. 

In a dramatic semi-final the Be Active Western Stars defeated the Sydney Metro Blues 64 - 48. Semi Final 2 was just as exciting with the Sydney Uni Flames defeating the Kilsyth Cobras 59 - 36.

Day 2 saw the Preliminary Final battled out between the Sydney Metro Blues and the Sydney Uni Flames for a place in the Gold Medal Match. The Sydney Metro Blues came out victorious defeating the Sydney Uni Flames 66 – 49.

The Bronze and Gold Medal Matches were contested on the last day of finals with the Sydney Uni Flames getting the upper hand over the Kilsyth Cobras to clinch the Bronze Medal 72 – 44. In a thrilling Gold Medal Match the Be Active Western Stars defeated the Sydney Metro Blues 72 – 58 to take out the Gold Medal and the National Championship.

Congratulations to all the teams, in particular the Champions the Be Active Western Stars, on a fantastic season of the WNWBL and a thrilling finals weekend.
