2017 GIO Wheelchair Rugby National Championship – not your regular seat at the Rugby!

From August 2 - 5, six of the world’s finest wheelchair rugby teams, including three international teams, will do battle on court in the 2017 GIO Wheelchair Rugby National Championship and the GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championship Official Test Event.

Australia’s top state teams will go head to head with national teams from Canada, Japan and New Zealand. The state teams will vie for the national title, while all teams will fiercely compete for the Official Test Event Championship Trophy.

Where: Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre & Genea Netball Centre and Corner Olympic Blvd & Sarah Durack Ave, Sydney Olympic Park

When: 2 - 5 August 2017

To watch some of the best wheelchair rugby in the nation, entry is by gold coin donation. Preferred seating tickets can also be purchased online. If you can’t make it to see the action, all games will be live streamed.

The National Championships will be just a taste of what’s to come in 2018 when Australia hosts the GIO 2018 IWRF Wheelchair Rugby World Championships. The World Championships will bring the top twelve nations from around the world to compete for the title of World Champion, currently held by the Australian Steelers.
