Disability Sports Australia welcomes two new directors to the DSA Board

Disability Sports Australia (DSA) is excited to welcome two new Directors to the DSA Board, Ilona Alsters and Chris Bond.

“I am really excited to welcome Ilona and Chris to the DSA Board.  We have a very strong Board with a diverse set of skills that is working with management to deliver an exciting strategy that delivers improved sporting and participation opportunities for Australians with a disability” said Executive Chairman of DSA, John Croll.

Ilona Alsters brings over twenty years’ experience as a corporate lawyer and is currently the General Counsel & Company Secretary for the pharmaceutical Boehringer Ingelheim Group in Australia & New Zealand. IIona is also Chair and Non-Executive Director of Karting (New South Wales) Inc - the State Sporting Organisation (SSO) for the sport of karting in New South Wales, as well as the President and Non-Executive Director of Hoxton Industries Limited.

"I’m very excited to join the board of DSA and look forward to further the promotion and independence of Australians with a disability to get more active more often" said Ilona upon her commencement to the Board on 21 July 2020. llona also joins the Governance Committee for DSA.

Chris Bond (better known as 'Bondy') has been a member of the Queensland and Australian Wheelchair Rugby team since 2011 and has tasted success with gold medals at National Championships, World Championships and the Paralympic Games. For the last 5 years, he has worked as a Partnership Manager with the Australian Sports Foundation to support in raising funds for Australian sport and is currently a member of Sport Integrity Australia’s Athlete Advisory Group.

Bondy officially joined the Board on 18 August 2020 and is "looking forward to bringing an athlete's perspective to Disability Sports Australia and helping shape the organisation to ensure all Australians with a disability have access to sport to live an active lifestyle".

Ilona and Chris are valuable additions to the DSA Board and DSA looks forward to working with them both!
