Disability Sports Australia partners with NDSP Plan Managers for National Referral Hub project

One week out from the start of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, National peak body Disability Sports Australia (DSA) announce an important partnership with NDSP Plan Managers who are a leading company in the NDIS Plan Management space.

This partnership formed from both organisations being very aligned in support of Australians with disabilities to live an active lifestyle. The partnership will see NDSP Plan Managers be given naming rights sponsorship status to the newly created National Referral Hub project developed by Disability Sports Australia.

The National Referral Hub enables Australians with disability to be referred to Disability Sports Australia by Health Professionals, Teachers, NDIS Local Area Coordinators and Early Childhood Early Intervention staff, Families, carers and participants themselves. The National Referral Hub will feature a very easy to use model where say a physiotherapist could go to the online hub, fill in a quick 2-minute referral and have it actioned by the DSA National Referral Hub team. The hub is endorsed by DSA ambassador Louise Sauvage, who in the recent first edition of the DSA podcast “Breaking Disability” said how important that first contact was to encourage participants and families to see the value of being active.

Disability Sports Australia chief executive officer Murray Elbourn said “This partnership is based of values both organisations share for having Australians with disability living the most active lifestyle possible. I am anticipating that our partnership and the National Referral Hub will make a significant impact broadly to Healthcare, Education, Sport, Community and Government sectors”.

NDSP Plan Managers CEO Graham Oades said “We are excited to partner with Disability Sports Australia as we see ourselves as more than just a plan manager, but a part of the disability community to support, educate and empower people living with disability. We understand the importance and social connection that participating in sports provides, and this partnership captures both our values and purpose perfectly.”.

The National Referral Hub will be launched in October of 2021 and will also start to provide more in-depth data through which community sporting clubs and social recreation programs in communities are inclusive and adaptive. NDSP Plan Managers will offer the National Referral Hub service to all their current NDIS plan subscribers nationally.
