Kieren Perkins OAM to keynote at the Disability Sports Australia National Conference at University of Sunshine Coast

Disability Sports Australia have partnered with Sunshine Coast Council and hosts University of Sunshine Coast to host a three day Sports Symposium. The event will feature many aspects of sport, local government, health and education sectors including NDIS Local area coordination and Early Childhood Early intervention relating to National Disability Insurance Scheme and Community Engagement.

Sunshine Coast is a peak venue for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the region will host many events within and leading up to Brisbane 2032.

On Wednesday, June 15th there will be a cocktail welcome function, celebrity wheelchair rugby game in partnership with Wheelchair Rugby Australia, and a Variety Activate Inclusion school sports day in partnership with Variety Queensland.

On Thursday, June 16th the Disability Sports Australia National Conference will be held preceded by a breakfast with QLD State Sporting and State Sporting organisation with a disability Organisations, and local community sporting clubs. The DSA National conference will feature current and former Paralympic greats including current Winter Paralympic Games co-captain Melissa Perrine, Track and Marathon legend Louise Sauvage and the first ever para-athlete to win the Triathlon Katie Kelly among others. The full program can be viewed and tickets purchased at the early bird rate until April 24th. Tickets are limited to 300 in person seats and 500 virtual seats.

The conference will feature a keynote speech from Australian Sports Commission CEO and dual Olympic gold medallist Kieren Perkins OAM and newly elected member of the International Paralympic Committee and current Chair of the Australian Sporting Alliance for people with a disability (ASAPD) Robyn Smith.

The conference will also have breakout sessions relating to Local Government, National Referral Hub featuring Adaption & Inclusion certification from Disability Sports Australia and Sport Australia, Health and wellbeing and a star-studded athlete panel hosted by Mr John Croll, Disability Sports Australia Chairperson.
