The Principles behind the Vision

At the core of our mission lies a powerful philosophy:

“Nothing about us without us.”

Building inclusive Sports Clubs

Our Approach

Victoria University and Disability Sports Australia, through their Building Inclusive Clubs program, have recognised that Australian sports clubs genuinely want to include people with disabilities but sometimes do not where to start.

We have partnered with the Australian Sports Commission to develop the Building Inclusive Disability Sports Clubs Online Module Series.

To ensure the voices of people with disability are prioritised, the development of these modules has been led by women with lived experiences of disability and embraces an intersectional approach.

Our modules aim to:

  • Teach strategies that you can implement to make your club more accessible.

  • Provide you with practical methods to recruit and retain people with disabilities as employees and volunteers.

  • Teach you the importance of advocacy and upholding the rights of people with disability in everything you do.

By doing these modules, your club or sports organisation will become a more inclusive and welcoming environment for every person.

The Issue

Unwelcoming Environments

People with disability often find a sporting club environment overwhelming and not welcoming.

Employment Gaps

Employment rates for people with disabilities have not improved.

Fear of Inaction

Sports clubs often fear saying or doing the wrong thing, resulting in inaction.

People with disability face more barriers to sport — this campaign shows how breaking them changes everything.
