Find Your Pathway

In Australia, there are many ways for people with disability to get involved in sport. This section will help you find National Sport Organisations for People with Disability and other popular disability sports.

National Sports Organisations for People with Disability (NSODs) can help you find the right sport pathway.

They offer advice, support, and opportunities for all ages and disability types — and we know many people have more than one disability.

Disability Sports Australia was once the peak body for people with physical disability. We now focus on connecting you with NSODs and sports so you can enjoy a healthy, active life.

Our goal is to support your participation in grassroots and community sport. Whether you’re starting out or building on your skills, there’s a pathway here for you.

If you are a person with disability who is interested in getting involved in para-sport we suggest you connect with Paralympics Australia and check out their Start Line.

If you are a person with an intellectual disability or intellectual impairment, we encourage you to connect with the following organisations.

Special Olympics Australia provides inclusive sport and lifelong participation opportunities for people with intellectual disability.

Sport Inclusion Australia supports the inclusion of athletes with an intellectual impairment into mainstream sport, including access to representative and elite pathways.

If you are a person who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing, we suggest you connect with Deaf Sports Australia for information, support, and opportunities to get involved in sport.

If you're a veteran or family member interested in sport, Invictus Australia can support you to stay active—whether you're joining local activities or aiming for events like the Invictus Games.

If you are a person who is blind or has low vision, we encourage you to connect with Blind Sports Australia for support, information, and opportunities to participate in sport.

If you are a person who has received a transplant, which is recognised as a disability, we encourage you to connect with Transplant Australia for support, community connection, and opportunities to get involved in sport and active living.

If you are a person with disability interested in snow sports or equestrian activities, we encourage you to connect with the following organisations.

Riding for the Disabled Australia offers therapeutic and recreational horse riding programs, while Disabled Wintersport Australia provides pathways for skiing and snowboarding participation and competition.
