Accessibility Champion Workshops

Building the capability of grassroots sport to include people with disability.

About the Workshops

Inclusion in grassroots sport does not happen by chance. The Accessibility Champion Workshops were delivered as part of Disability Sports Australia’s work to build the capability of sport and promote awareness of disability sport across the community.

Delivered by Disability Sports Australia and presented by Bupa, these free workshops provided coaches, volunteers, administrators and sport providers with practical tools and greater confidence to create inclusive environments for people with disability.

About the Accessibility Champion Course

These workshops complemented the free online Accessibility Champion Course by providing hands-on practice, real examples, and opportunities to connect with peers and sector leaders.

The Accessibility Champion Course is a self-paced program made up of four short modules that can be completed at any time. It covers practical ways to make grassroots sport more inclusive — from adapting activities and facilities to improving communication and creating welcoming environments for people with disability. Participants also receive resources they can use immediately within their club or community.
