Disability Sports Australia connects people with disability to sport and can help you find the organisation best suited to your situation.

If you identify with more than one disability or sport area, more than one organisation may be relevant to you.

Para-sport pathways

If you are interested in para-sport, Paralympics Australia can help you get started. Their Start Line program supports people with disability to find para-sport.

Intellectual disability and autism – community sport

If you have an intellectual disability and want to take part in community sport, Special Olympics Australia provides sport and participation opportunities across Australia for people with intellectual disability.

Intellectual disability – representative and elite sport

If you have an intellectual impairment and want to access representative and elite opportunities in mainstream sport, Sport Inclusion Australia supports the inclusion of athletes with intellectual impairment across the Australian sports system.

Deaf or hard of hearing

If you are Deaf or hard of hearing, Deaf Sports Australia is the national organisation supporting deaf participation in sport. They coordinate Australian teams for international deaf sport and support community participation.

Blind or low vision

If you are blind or have low vision, Blind Sports Australia is the national organisation for sport for people who are blind or vision impaired. They support participation across goalball, blind football and other sports.

Veterans and family members

If you are a serving or former member of the Australian Defence Force, or a family member, Invictus Australia supports participation in sport and recreation for veterans and families, including those living with physical or psychosocial injuries.

Transplant recipients

If you have received a transplant, Transplant Australia supports community connection, sport participation and active living for transplant recipients across Australia.

Disability Horse riding

If you want to take part in horse riding, Riding for the Disabled Australia offers therapeutic and recreational horse riding opportunities for people with disability through a network of centres across Australia.

Disability snow sports

If you want to take part in skiing or snowboarding, Disabled Wintersport Australia provides participation and competition opportunities across alpine and adaptive snow sports.

Boccia

If you want to play boccia, a Paralympic precision ball sport, Boccia Australia is the national governing body and supports participation, classification and competition opportunities.

Wheelchair Rugby

If you want to play wheelchair rugby, Wheelchair Rugby Australia is the national governing body for the sport in Australia, supporting participation from grassroots through to the National Steelers program.
